G. An Indefinite Pronoun is a pronoun that does not refer to any person, amount, or thing in particular. (e.g. something, anyone, everybody, no one, nothing, etc.)
a. use Pronouns ending in ‘-body’ or ‘-one’ for people, and pronouns ending in ‘-thing’ for things. (e.g. It was a very clear day. We could see everything.)
b. use a singular verb after the Indefinite Pronoun. (e.g. Everything was ready for the party.)
c. When we refer back to the Indefinite Pronoun, normally use a plural pronoun. (e.g. I will tell somebody that dinner is ready. They have been waiting a long time.)
d. can add ‘-‘s’to the Indefinite Pronoun to make a possessive. (e.g. They were staying in somebody’s house.)
e. use Indefinite Pronouns with ‘no-‘ as the subject in negative clauses (not pronouns with any.) (e.g. Nobody came.)
f. do not use another negative in a clause with nobody, no one or nothing. (e.g. Nothing happened.)
g. use ‘else‘after Indefinite Pronouns to refer to people or things in addition to the ones we already mentioned. (e.g. All the family came, but no one else.)
