Question

A. We make questions by:
a. moving an auxiliary to the front of the clause. (e.g. Everybody is watching -> Is everybody watching?)
b. or by moving a modal to the front of the clause. (e.g. They will come -> Will they come?)
c. The present simple and the past simple have no auxiliary. We make questions by adding the auxiliary do/does for the present simple or did for the past simple. (e.g. They live here -> Do they live here?

A1. Yes/No questions are questions to which the answer is Yes or No. (e.g. They are working hard.) We make Yes/No questions by putting the subject, they, after the first part of the verb. (e.g. Are they working hard?)
a. We make negatives by putting not after the first part of the verb. (e.g. They are not working hard)
b. In spoken English we often reduce not to n’t: They aren’t working hard.
