Expressing + Gerund (-ing)

D. When these expressions are followed by a verb, the verb ends in '-ing'.
a. It's no use/ It's no good. (e.g. There's nothing you can do about the situation, so it's no use worrying about it.)
b. There's no point in. (e.g. There's no point in having a car if you never use it.) But we usually say 'the point of doing something'. (e.g. What's the point of having a car if you never use it?)
c. It's (not) worth (e.g. I live only a short walk from here, so it's not worth taking a taxi.)
d. can say that a film is worth seeing, a book is worth reading etc. (e.g. What was the film like? Was it worth seeing?)

D1. have difficulty '-ing', have trouble '-ing'.
a. say 'have difficulty doing something' (not to do) (e.g. I had no difficulty finding a place to live. (not difficulty to find))
b. can also say 'have trouble doing something'. (e.g. I had no trouble finding a place to live.)

D2. a waste of money/ a waste of time + '-ing' (e.g. It was a waste of time reading that book. It was rubbish.), spend/ waste (time) +'-ing' (e.g. He spent hours trying to repair the book.)

D3. (be) busy + '-ing' (e.g. She said she couldn't see me. She was too busy doing other things.)

D4. use go '-ing' for a number of activities (especially sports): go swimming, go sailing, go fishing, go climbing, go skiing, go jogging, also go shopping, go sightseeing (e.g. How often do you go swimming?)
