Example: The poor young man was scared out of his wits.

Example: Normally, people is scared stiff by the robber. I was scared stiff when the dog growled at me.

See Eye to Eye: to say that two (or more people) agree on something
Example: They don't see eye to eye each other, but when it comes to the most important issues they see eye to eye.

Sell your soul (to the Devil): to do something bad in order to succeed or get money or power
Example: Tom really wanted that project and he could sell his soul (to the devil) to make a contract.

Separate Sheep from Goats: examining a group of people and deciding their suitability
Example: Audition test was conducted by the director to separate sheep from goats.

Shaking in our Shoes: trembling with fear
Example: We were all shaking in our shoes when we heard all the shouting.

Sick as a Dog: very sick with the flu or cold, or vomiting a lot
Example: Tom was very sick as a dog after last night's meal.

Sit on the Fence: does not want to choose or make a decision
Example: You can't sit on the fence any longer. It's time to decide whose side you're on.

Sitting Shotgun: riding in the front passenger seat of the car
Example: But it seems nobody want to take to sit shotgun

Sixth Sense: different phenomena which a person with sixth sense may experience
Example: Sixth Senses are telepathy, premonition, intuition and Déjà vu, etc.

Skid Row: the rundown area of a city where the homeless and drug users live.
Example: Tom's drinking was getting worse, we thought he will head for skid row soon.

Smell a Rat: a feeling that something is not quite right, or awry.
Example: Tom has been working late with competitor's family. I smell a rat!

Smell Something Fishy: something about a person or situation arouses suspicion
Example: It smells fishy. We do not have any benefit from it.

Son of a Gun: a mean or unpleasant man
Example: That son of a gun never called me back.

Speak of the devil: appears unexpectedly while being talked about
Example: Did you hear what happened to Tom recently. Speak of the devil, here he comes.

Spitting Image: exact likeness or kind
Example: Tom is the spitting image of his grandfather.

Start from Scratch: from the beginning, without using anything that already exists
Example: Theuklife website is terrible, so we should get rid of it altogether and start again from scratch

Steal Someone's Thunder: to take the credit for something someone else did.
Example: You have to stop stealing my thunder! You do it first and you always get the recognition!
