Phrasal Verb: Save

save on means to spend less than normal (e.g. Keep your showers short to save on water and electricity bills.
save up or save something up means to keep something (money) for the future use (e.g. Jon’s saving up to buy a new car. He’s saving up for a new car. I’m saving my holidays up for a trip round the world.)
